The election season will soon be

upon us. And the smear campaigns will commence on television and social media.
This disturbs me.
While I have strong political opinions, I try to keep my posts and comments civil and I wish others would also. If you have a difference of opinion on any given issue, I welcome a debate. But be polite. Express your opinions without using derogatory terms about the candidates or using foul language.
And speaking of language usage, why do people feel the need to curse so much. I am not a prude and have lived a full life but I watch my language. I think using excessive bad language shows a lack of vocabulary.
I love watching the Olympics. As a child growing up in the 1970’s, I had an image of the Russian people as being very stoic and emotionless. Then I saw a pair of ice skaters who had won the gold medal in their event. The woman was crying as the Soviet anthem was played. Years later, this single Olympic moment has stayed in my memory.
Do not buy while others die. A large percentage of dogs and cats taken to shelters will die there. Many of these animals are pure-breeds and are there through no fault of their own. They are in the shelter or rescue because of human choices and behavior. Pets require a lifetime commitment. Do not get a dog or cat unless you are ready to keep the animal for the remainder of their life.
If you want a dog or cat, stay away from breeders. Visit websites such as Petfinder.com or Adopt-A-Pet.com to find the ideal pet for your home. Not only will you be saving the life of the animal you adopt, but you will be saving another pet that takes his place in the shelter or rescue.
That is all for this week. I hope everyone has a great tomorrow.
