President Lincoln said “A house divided against itself cannot stand”.

As I write this post on the evening of July 9, 2016, I cannot help to think how this statement applies to our nation today.

The media exploded with news of two men killed by police officers in separate incidents.   As the nation was dealing with the aftermath of this news, five Dallas police officers were viciously slain by a gunman during a protest march.   It was reported the gunman was upset by the police shooting earlier in the week.

Is our once great nation headed for a civil war?   There are those who seem to continuously mention racial issues as a major problem in the country.  President Obama is noted for speaking of racial issues and there are many who consider his actions as “race baiting”.

The race baiting needs to stop.   It is doing nothing but dividing the nation according to race and is helping no one.

People should be encouraged to take control of their own destiny and not to blame their life situation on oppression by any group.   But the president and others appear to want to encourage racial tensions.

This is totally un-American.  Our leaders should encourage us to rise up as one nation and denounce any sort of violent crime.  We need to come together as Americans and stop tagging someone as racist because they express their opinion on a certain issues or speak out against the president.   (Yes, someone actually stated in a Facebook post that is you do not like President Obama, you must be racist.)

I feel it is the media that encourages racial tension as they will report heavily on white on black crime far more than black on black or black on white crime.   Do they do this purposely to raise racial tension?   Is there outside influence on the major media outlets to report on events that push certain political agendas?  Are they strongly encouraged to remain silent on events that contradict these agendas?

This is America and our press should be fair and unbiased.   The media should not support agendas that encourage discord between the races.
